About The Event

John Kopp became obsessed with the Coast Guard and its motor lifeboats when he visited Station Cape Disappointment, Washington at  age six.  He enlisted in the U.S. Coast Guard in 2010 and served onboard the  278-foot cutter Midgett at Station Barnegat Light in New Jersey. He later served on  the 52-foot motor lifeboat Triumph and as a surfman on the 47-foot motor lifeboat at  Cape Disappointment. Kopp retired from the Coast Guard in 2019.
