Sail Trim & Rig Tuning Seminar

Sailing and handling a boat for best performance is a complicated subject but this course will provide you with basic and some advanced information. Having your rig properly tuned and then trimming sails for the best results are important for moving through the water with the best possible speed. Trim and tuning are extremely important when racing. Understanding the interaction and dynamics between boat, wind and sails is essential for best performance.

Moveable parts used in sail adjustment such as main sheet traveler, vang, genoa track, main outhaul,  jiffy reefing, cunningham down haul are a few of the terms explained. Equally important are the fixed names, luff of sail, foot, leech, clew, etc. These terms are used frequently and you should know them. The seminar includes a weatherproof USPS Captain’s Quick Guide and Student Notes.
