The seminar will present Radar basics, including echos, operator controls,
operator basics, collision avoidance, and navigation. It will assist the user
with reflected echos, landmasses, and structures. Included will be

stand-alone and integrated systems

good and bad targets
|
 |
isolated and multiple returns and their interpretations
|
 |
radar reflectors with optimum mounting
|
 |
operator controls such as heading, range, sea clutter, rain, fast time
constants to reduce rain or snow returns
|
 |
interference rejection
|
 |
electronic bearing lines
|
 |
variable range markers will also be covered
|
 |
collision avoidance including sweep to sweep monitoring, target tails, guard
zones and MARPA (mini automated radar plotting aids) which can give closest
point of approach (CPA) and and time to CPA
|
 |
navigation techniques dealing with LOPs by finding azimuth and distance from
an object
|
The seminar will stress PRACTICE, PRACTICE, PRACTICE in good weather.
